I-J-2-b. COLONEL WILLIAM OLIN SIBERT (1889 – 1935), son of Major General William Luther Sibert4 (William3, David2, John David1)

William Olin Sibert was born on 23 October 1889 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. [1][2][3] He died of pneumonia on 14 December 1935, aged 46, in Philadelphia. [1][2][3][4] He married Elizabeth Carson on 12 April 1916. [2][5] Elizabeth was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James O. Carson. [5] She was born on 8 July 1897 in Kentucky. [3] She died on 4 August 1992 in Florida. [3][6] William and Elizabeth are buried together in the Arlington National Cemetery. [3]

William was educated at the University of Virginia. [2]

On 18 January 1916, William was a Warren County Hardware Company member. [5]

According to the census, on 8 January 1920, William O., aged 30 and born in Kentucky, and Elizabeth, aged 22 and born in Kentucky, lived in Manchester, Ocean County, New Jersey. William was an army officer. [7]

After World War I, William was a major in the chemical warfare service. [4] He was a lieutenant colonel in the United States Reserve Corps. [2] At the time of his death, he was a salesman for the Bulova Watch company in Philadelphia. [1][2]

William made his will on 20 May 1927; it was admitted to probate on 21 January 1936. His next of kin and heirs were his wife Elizabeth; his son William L. Sibert, 2nd, aged ten; and his daughter Margaret C. Sibert, aged six. [4]

On 11 April 1940, Elizabeth, aged 42, William, aged 14, Margaret, aged 11, and a servant lived in Glen Ridge, Essex County, New Jersey. [7]

According to her obituary, Elizabeth moved from Glen Ridge, New Jersey to Palm Beach in 1975. She was survived by her son William L. Sibert of Charlottesville, Virginia and a grandson. [6]

Children of William Olin Sibert and Elizabeth Collins Carson:

i. William Luther Sibert was born on 24 May 1925. [8] He died on 19 November 2007. [8] He married, as her second husband, Helen De Ford B. Lanning of Trenton, New Jersey on 9 August 1945 in Raleigh, North Carolina. [9][10] Helen was the daughter of Charles D. and Bernardo E. (Cloud) Besore. [9][10][11] She was born on 26 November 1917 in Trenton, New Jersey. [11][12][13] She died on 15 or 16 March 1994 in Riverside County, California. [11][13] She married first William M. Lanning in 1940 in New Jersey. [14] She apparently married third ___ Green.

William graduated from Princeton in 1948. [10] At the time of his marriage, he worked for Neilson and Company, a market research firm, in New York. [10]

ii. Margaret Cummings Sibert was born on 10 April 1929 in New Jersey. [11] She died on 27 January 1978 in Jacksonville, Florida. [11][15] She married Bradford Miller on 2 September 1950 in the Christ Episcopal Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky. [16] Bradford was the son of Brigadier General Lyle H. Halcomb and Marguerite (French) Miller. [9][16] He was born on 11 November 1924 and died on 25 November 2001. [3] They apparently divorced. Bradford married second Katherine Lucille Pritchett on 21 March 1959 in Guilford County, North Carolina. [9]

According to her obituary, Margaret Sibert Miller was survived by her mother, Elizabeth Carson Sibert of Glen Ridge, New Jersey and her brother, William L. Sibert of Pound Ridge, New York. [15]
